These two photos are from the Jamshil area, by the Olympic Park. In the 80's gangsters got into the construction industry and bribed officials to win bids for construction projects. Gangsters tend not to care about building codes. Consequently, there were lots of apartments that collapsed. These were dilapidated and slated for destruction. People were still living in them, even though you can clearly see that some of the balconies are peeling off the sides of the building, in addition to other hazards. These are no longer there, and have been razed for newer, safer digs.

Just beyond these tombs are several hotels, restaurants, divey homes and tire stores. 

Cheomsongdae. Built by a woman. Good for looking at stars and drinking soju.
